Hello to all members, visitors, & beautiful people of the world. My name is Raymond Bondad, President of Pi.S.A. here at College of the Desert. A little about myself... I'm a US Army Veteran, served 6 years (4 yrs active, 2 yrs reserve), an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran (OIF3 in 2005) and now a History major. My plan is to transfer to the Cal State system. Either Cal State, Long Beach or I'll stay in the desert & attend Cal State, San Bernardino - Palm Desert. My dream school since I was 6 yrs old is UCLA. I started off my college "career" at Santa Monica College in 1999 after graduating from Santa Monica High School. Needless to say I'm originally from Los Angeles, born in the 213 but raised in the 310 (6 yrs spent in the 626). I lived in different parts of LA County such as Lennox, Inglewood, Gardena, Hawthorne, West LA, Azusa, Covina (the SGV...626), and after high school as a "Wild Child" I lived in Cerritos & Lakewood for a really REALLY quick minute. While at Santa Monica College, I was a Graphic Design major & a member of Kapisanang Pilipino aka KP with my bestfriend, Nicky Mataalii. KP was an awesome group of peeps. And then prior to enlisting into the military, I was a student at El Camino College in Torrance where I excelled in Weight Training & TV Production. Yet after my experience in the military & my love for Google, I am now in pursuit of becoming the coolest high school US History teacher on the planet until I die...inspired of course by Matt Flanders at Santa Monica High School. With that said, you should all know, there's this really cool guy in this big ol' body of mine that packs a lot of punch behind a great big smile. My goals for the Fall 2010 Semester are simple. Do a hell of a lot better than last semester by executing activites that' are productive to the club, our members, our school, and our future. I want to build on the cultural aspect as well, learning & educating. Here in the Coachella Valley, we're surrounded by Hispanic culture, but COD shouldn't only be represented by the Latino Community. We have a lot of contention in representation on campus, especially with at least 5 different Hispanic clubs representing & supporting the one same cause. With the help of my cabinet members, especially now that I have a VP I can count on who's reliable & trustworthy, along with my Secretary & Treasurer, I'm confident to know that this semester will be the best in our club's history...EVER! And also, I want to note that although we didn't compete in this year's Friendship Games, I can at least say that my strong 11 members enjoyed the festivities and are looking forward to next year's FG so we can show off our SPUF (Spirit, Pride, Unity, & Friendship) and show them our stuff. Thank you for your time. Come meet with us soon. With Lots of Love, Bondad, Raymond P. President, Pilipino Student Association | First Lady & I @ Friendship Games 2010 |
